Virginia Ruth Morgan
of Davin, WV
Virginia Ruth Morgan, 86, of Davin, WV, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2011, at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh, PA, after a brief illness.
She was born February 15, 1924, at Clintwood, VA, the daughter of the late George and Sula Hammond Mosley.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 26 years, Walter Elias Morgan; two daughters, Naoma Ruth Morgan Browning and Francis Louise Morgan Peavler.
Ruth was a Licensed Practical Nurse for several years before attending Marshall University where she received her Bachelors Degree in Elementary and Secondary Education. She then worked for the Logan County Board of Education for 20 years. Ruth was a born again Christian and a long-time member of Claypool United Methodist Church where she served God in many capacities. She was not only very active in church, but also very active in her community. Ruth was a caring, charitable person who was always there for those in need. Throughout her life, her love for travel carried her many places of which Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg were among her favorites. When not traveling, Ruth could be found reading or quilting. Although Ruth’s life was filled with many activities, the most important things in her life were God and her family.
Those left to cherish her memory are her one son, Jack (Judy) Morgan of Davin; one daughter, Janice (Gary) Morgan Wilson of Man; ten grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; along with a host of other family members and friends.
Funeral Services will commence at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at the Claypool United Methodist Church at Claypool with Rev. Gary Wilson and Rev. Bryan C. Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Claypool Cemetery at Claypool.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Monday at the church and one hour prior to services.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
