Loren “Cat” Cline
Of Verner, WV
Loren “Cat” Cline, 102, of Verner, departed this life Sunday, December 12, 2010, at his home, after an extended illness.
He was born January 30, 1908, at Sun Hill in Wyoming County, a son of the late Gentry and Dollie Harvey Cline.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elsie Workman Cline; one son, Rocky Loren Cline; several infant children; four sisters, Victoria, Lakie, Elouise, and Frances; and three brothers, Bert, Dell, and Alan.
“Cat” was a retired coal miner and a self employed timber contractor. When he was able, he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. “Cat” was devoted to his family and loved spending time with all of them.
Those left to cherish his memory are six children, Doris B. (Bernie) Spence of Accoville, Josephine Hawks of Gilbert, French (Ernestine) Cline of Gilbert, Edgar (Louise) Cline of Brenton, Clifford (Josephine) Cline of Lock Port, NY, and Jerry Cline at home; two sisters, Garnet Hatfield of Clear Fork and Ida (Jack) Pinchback of Brenton; 20 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will commence at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 16, 2010, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man with Rev. Jerry Rose and Rev. Ronnie Lester officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens at Matheny.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home and one hour prior to services.
Grandchildren will serve as pall bearers.
