Please share a memory of Gloria to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Gloria Donahue Perry Of Man, WV Gloria Dean Donahue Perry, 80, of Man, joined the Lord and her family in heaven on Friday, December 3, 2010. She was born September 13, 1930, at Detroit, MI, a daughter of the late Edward and Gladys Perkins Donahue. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty and Colleen. Gloria was employed by various local companies over the years. She began working at the age of 16 at the Man Drugstore. She worked for Dr. Roberts, Croziers’ Drugstore, Man Gas Company, Dingess Line Co., Community Health Foundation, Arzella’s, Mary Kay, and retired from Ellis Supply Co. at the age of 72. She was an excellent bookkeeper and seamstress and enjoyed working with the public. Her hobbies included sewing, reading, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends. She loved to bowl and bowled on women’s bowling leagues every weekend for many years. Gloria had a large circle of good friends over the years and enjoyed just sitting and chatting at the local restaurants. Visiting “Granny’s” house was like going back in time---an old movie in black and white, old board games, bingo, dominoes, macaroni-n-cheese, and Old Maid while listening to hits sung by Frank Sinatra. She was described by most as a classy lady, always dressed to perfection from head to toe in her perfectly tailored clothing, her hair neatly styled and her make-up in place. She loved pretty clothes and jewelry. She was a member of the Man Church of the Nazarene for many years. Gloria was very involved with the Ladies Aide and volunteered a great deal of time and crafting skills when needed. She loved her church family. Gloria adored her dog “Baby” which has been her companion for seven years. “Baby” was like a child to Granny. Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Lynn (Jerry) Linville of Amherstdale and Susan Caserta (Kenneth Wallace) of Milton; one son, Jon (Alice) Perry of Man; six grandchildren, Jon Michael (Lori) Perry of Chapmanville, Misty (Paul) Collins and Kristy (Jabo) Curry, both of Amherstdale, Mitch (Jessica) Linville of Logan, Leigh Ann (Hershel) Carter of Man, and Jill Caserta of Milton; two sisters, Peggy (Gene) Lusk of Montclair, VA and Sue (George) Mansfield of Jefferson, OH; three brothers, Jerry (Pat) Donahue of Mineral, VA, Edward (Diana) Donahue and Mike (Gretchen) Donahue, both of Man; seven great-grandchildren, Jonah Perry, Jonathan, Nick, and Emily Collins, Megan and Hannah Curry, and Hershel Lee Carter; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; a very precious aunt, Dorothy Hamb of Franklin, TN; and special end of life caregivers, Georgie Wingler, Shannon Brown, and Leigh Ann Carter. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon Monday, December 6, 2010, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man with Rev. James Kittle assisted by Rev. Brian Pope officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home and one hour prior to services.
