Of Greenville, WV
Texie Lena Whitt, 84, of Greenville went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, December 1, 2010, at Logan Regional Medical Center at Logan following a short illness.
She was born September 17, 1926, at Greenville, a daughter of the late Benjamin Harrison and Dorothy O’Donnell Brown.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Franklin “Frank” Whitt; five sons, Larry, Randall, Gregory, Chris, and Roger Dale Whitt; one granddaughter, Shirley Vanover; one great-granddaughter, Destiny Johnson; one brother, Harlan Brown; and three sisters, Tess Brown, India Browning, and Ruby Bagby.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Texie had a heart of gold and helped those in need. She was a member of the Hunt Free Will Baptist Tabernacle at Greenville.
Those left to cherish her memory are four sons, Phillip (Goldie) Whitt of Davin, Ricky Whitt at home, Dwayne (Angela) Whitt of Greenville, and Darwin (Crystal) Whitt of Davin; five daughters, Nita Whitt of Greenville, Cheryl (Dickie) Vanover of Blaine, KY, Carla (Bobby) Queen of Winfield, Yvonne (Bimbo) Stevens of Greenvalley, and Virginia Whitt of Greenville; one brother, Benjamin Harrison (Mary) Brown Jr. of Man; 32 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will commence at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 4, 2010, at the Hunt Free Will Baptist Tabernacle at Greenville with Rev. Donald Ellis and Rev. Baxter Toler officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens at Godby Heights.
Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Friday at the Hunt Free Will Baptist Tabernacle and one hour prior to services.
Pall bearers will be Grandsons.
Honorary pall bearers will be Clifford Browning, Danny Browning, Donald Browning, and Ernest Cline.
