Opal Louise Blankenship
Of Bruno, WV
On Wednesday, November 24th, 2010, a child of God, Opal Louise Blankenship, 80, of Bruno, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and to join her loved ones waiting for her in heaven from Logan Regional Medical Center at Logan, after an extended illness.
She was born May 26th, 1930 at Bruno, the daughter of the late Harmon and Dementia Christian Ellis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tildon F. Blankenship; step-mother, Janice Ellis; nine brothers, Charles, Kadger, Lavon, Donzil, Zenith, Ronald, Darrell, Ricky, and Mathias Ellis; and one sister, Shirley Gill.
Opal was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, grandmother, aunt, great-grandmother, and friend. She thoroughly enjoyed life as a Christian and was a member of the Bruno Church of God. Opal taught Sunday school for over 30 years.
Those left to cherish her memory are her four daughters, Judy (Bud Browning) Tiller of Tamcliffe, Rev. Karen (Dunk) Frye of Robinette, Charlotte (Joe) Gollie of Danville, and Debbie (Bob) Fender of Bruno; two sons, Rev. Tildon (LaDonna) Blankenship Jr. of Logan and Bernard (Kelly) Blankenship of Neibert; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; five sisters, Barbara (Fred) Newman, Wanda (Larry) Sites, Kay (Michael) Roberts, Sandra (Cud) Bailey, and Sharon (Wade) Hatfield; six brothers, Michael Ellis, Danny Ellis, Jackie (Sue) Ellis, Rev. Harold (Lynn) Ellis, Larry (Martha) Ellis, and Harmon (Debbie) Ellis Jr.; sisters-in-law, Edna Mae Ellis and Shelby Ellis; a host of nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Frankie Lamb and Pearl Hall.
The funeral service will commence at 1 p.m. Monday, November 29th, 2010, at the Bruno Church of God at Bruno with Rev. Roger Frye officiating the ceremonies. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Friends will be received from 6-9 p.m. Sunday, November 28th, 2010, at the Bruno Church of God.
Pall bearers will be the grandsons.
