Hartis G. West
Of Bruno, WV
Hartis G. West, 89, of Bruno, went to his heavenly home Monday, October 18, 2010, from Trinity Health Care at Logan, after a long illness.
He was born May 7, 1921, at Mud Fork in Calhoun County, a son of the late Seldon and Ivy May West.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Carlos, George, Corbit, and Mason West; four sisters, Bonnie West, Agnus Faye West, and two infant sisters.
Hartis was a retired coal mine construction worker formerly employed with H.N. Construction. He was a member of Bruno Church of God where he served the Lord for over 50 years and loved his church family. Hartis was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served during WWII. He enjoyed raising a garden and sharing the fruits of his labor with others. When he was able he enjoyed hunting.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Juanita Barrett West of Bruno; one son, Roy C. (Wanda) West of Mallory; two daughters, Sharon R. West of Aurora, CO and Carolyn E. West of Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren, Eric (Angelia) West of Danielsville, GA, Brian (Bonnie) West of Greenville, and Beth (Steven) Adkins of Man; seven great-grandchildren, Joelie, Jordon, and Abbey West, all of Danielsville, GA, Lucas and Makenzee Adkins of Man, and Bailee and Breonna West of Greenville; one brother, Ben (Anita) West of Grantsville; nephews, Mike, Marvin, and Jamie West; nieces, Melisa and Shelby; a special friend, Jerry Toler; and his special friends at the nursing home along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 Noon Friday, October 22, 2010, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home Chapel at Man with Rev. Roger Frye officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and one hour prior to services.
Family and friends will serve as pall bearers.
