Obituary of Isaac Sturgell

Please share a memory of Isaac to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Isaac Sturgell Of Davin, WV Isaac Sturgell went to meet the Lord on Friday, September 3, 2010, from his home, after a long illness. He was born January 16, 1924, in Laurel, and is the last of the generation of the late Grover C. and Sally Vance Sturgell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Eula Mae; one daughter, Wilma; and three sons, Roger, Brad, and Jackie Sturgell; four brothers, Gilbert, Harthard, Lindsey, and John; five sisters, Dorothy, Easter, Nora, Brookie, and Katherine. Isaac was a veteran, a disabled coal miner and a member of the UMWA. His hobbies were gardening, fishing, and hunting. His greatest joy was telling others about the Lord Jesus Christ. He would offer you the sweetest thing he had, a peppermint candy and a word from the Bible on how to find the Lord. He enjoyed an additional 34 years of life due to the gift of life given to him when his son, Roger Dale, donated a kidney before his death six months later. These additional years were treasured by all those who loved him. Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Clifford (Libby) Sturgell of VA, Sherwood Sturgell of Charleston, and Raymond (Paula) Sturgell of Richfield, NC; daughters, Gisele (Lee) Blankenship of Cyclone, Gwen (Donald) Toler of Bolt, Mary (Ronnie) Daniels of Lexington, NC, Sally (Scott) Ferrell and Kitty (John) Dempsey, both of Six Mile; 31 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. A special mention to others he cherished, Sid Moore, who he thought of as a son, Carl Blankenship, Sue Williamson, along with all his nieces and nephews, Kate Hicks, all of the neighbors and friends in the community, and his beloved Greenbranch Free Will Baptist Church family where he was a member and served as Deacon. A visitation will be held from 6 until 7 p.m. Sunday, September 5, 2010, at the Greenbranch Free Will Baptist Church at Man, where a traditional church service to honor his final wishes to put the Lord first in all things will begin at 7 p.m. with Rev. Sid Moore officiating. A graveside service will take place on Monday, September 6, 2010, at the Vance Cemetery at seven/eight Holden. The funeral procession will leave Greenbranch Free Will Baptist Church at 9 a.m. on Monday. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge shall give me at that day; and not me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. 2 Timothy: Chap. 4, verses 7-8 Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man will be serving the Sturgell family.
