Nathaniel Phillip Porter
Of Chapmanville, WV
Nathaniel Phillip “Bud” Porter, 36, of Chapmanville, passed away Friday, August 13, 2010, at his home.
He was born January 27, 1974, at Man, a son of Nathan and Helen “Tootsie” Porter of Cooks Addition.
Bud was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Arnold Toler; and his paternal grandfather, Robert Porter.
He was a truck driver who drove 18 wheelers for six years before accepting a job with United Central Supply at Chapmanville as a shop boss. He was a member of the Brothers of the Wheel Motorcycle Club. Bud was a 1993 graduate of Man High School where he played football for the Man High Hillbillies. He also played t-ball, midget league football and Man Jr. High School Pioneer football. Bud enjoyed fishing and riding motorcycles.
Those left to cherish his memory, in addition to his parents, are his wife, Wendy Schoolcraft Porter of Chapmanville; three sons, Jackson and Tobie Porter, both of Davin, and Nathan Porter at home; one step-son, Dakota Adkins of Davin; his maternal grandmother, Anna Toler of Cooks Addition; his paternal grandmother, Vernice Porter of Crown; four sisters, Michelle Toler of Toledo, OH, Bridget (Dwayne) Francis of Winston-Salem, NC, Abigail Porter and Faith Porter, both of Cooks Addition; many aunts, uncles, and cousins along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, August 16, 2010, at the Toler Baptist Church at Cyclone with Rev. Clarence Gibson and Rev. James Buckner officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man and one hour prior to services at the church.
Pall bearers will be Dwayne Francis, Jeff Buckner, Chris Justice, Marion Damron, Norman Matthews, and Two Harvey.
Honorary pall bearers will be James Pete Toler and Jerry Toler.
