Of Combs Addition, WV
Jessee Wayne Crawford, 68, of Combs Addition, departed this life suddenly Friday, April 2, 2010, from his home.
He was born July 30, 1941, in the Panama Canal Zone, a son of the late Jessee and Helen Blake Crawford.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one half-sister, Vera May Crawford.
Jessee was a retired employee of the Department of Higher Education who served as the JTPA councilor and as an adjunct professor in the business department at SWVC&TC for many years. Jessee administered the ACT testing at SWVC&TC for over 20 years. He also worked as an advisor for the Department of Higher Education in Charleston. After retirement, he worked part time as a tutor at the Day Report Center at Logan. He received a baccalaureate degree in accounting from the University of Southern California at Berkley. Prior to attending the University, he served in the U.S. Navy at Oakland as a hospital corpsman. Jessee was of the Baptist faith. He loved to fish and travel.
Those left to carry on his legacy are his wife, Marlene Mills Crawford of Combs Addition; one son, Jessee “Ryan” Lee Crawford at home; one special baby girl, Brionna Rachelle Crawford at home; three step-children, Marla (Chris) Johnson of Claypool, Philip Nelson and Joseph Nelson, both of Mineral City; one sister, Beverly McClellan of Wilmington, NC; one brother, Jerry Lee (Marilyn) Crawford of Toronto, Canada; three grandsons, Austin, Riley, and Corey Johnson, all of Claypool; one niece, Candy (Chris) Hug of Wilmington, NC; two nephews, David Ray (Erica) McClellan of Athens, GA and Clark McClellan of Cross Lanes; four great-nieces; and two great-nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, April 5, 2010, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man with Rev. Michael Johnson officiating. Military Honors will be conducted after the funeral.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services.
The remains will be cremated.
