Obituary of Roger Dale Lambert
Please share a memory of Roger to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Roger Dale Lambert of Lorado passed away surrounded by his family on March 4, 2010 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington. He was 61 years old.
Roger was born on March 11, 1948 in Saunders to the late Leroy and Easter Lambert. Also preceding him in death are his aunts Opal Browning and Violet Tudor and uncles Otis Lambert and Jim “Ed” Lambert.
Roger was a 1966 graduate of Man High School. After studying accounting for two years at Marshall University’s Logan campus, he went to work as a coal miner. He retired in 2003 after more than 30 years of tireless labor. But Roger often remarked that his greatest success was as a husband and father. He leaves behind his loving wife of 38 years, Barbara Lambert, and three children.
Roger instilled an appreciation for education and a strong work ethic in his children. His eldest child, Kevin (Mwenya) Lambert, is a speech pathologist in Atlanta, Georgia. His only daughter, Jill (Joshua) Barker, is an assistant principal in Chapmanville. And his youngest son, Roger Lee Lambert, is an attorney in Huntington. He was very proud of all of his children. At the time of his death, he was anxiously awaiting the arrival of his first grandchild this upcoming May.
To his friends and family, Roger was one of the most dependable and selfless people they’ve ever known. He was always thinking of the needs and wants of others before his own. And he could always be counted on to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Roger was an avid outdoorsman whose interests included hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed spending quality time with loved ones and, on occasion, liked to play a practical joke on them. He had a wonderful sense of humor. The consummate handy man: Roger kept busy during his retirement with various home renovation projects. He was of the Baptist faith. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Additional survivors include his brothers Tony Lambert of Lorado and Steven (Anita) Lambert of Sutton; niece Taegan Lambert of Sutton; aunts Martha Spake of Texas, Irene Gollihue of Ohio, Tressie Hull of Florida, Naomi Short of Mallory, and Irene Peters of Accoville; uncle Phillip Lambert of Texas; sisters-in-law Ruth Imes of Amherstdale, Dorthy Synan of Virginia, and Bonnie Moore of Ohio; brothers-in-law Frankie Imes of Hurricane, Charles Imes of Ohio, and Bill Imes of Ohio; and a host of friends and family.
