Obituary of Edgar Dean

Edgar Dean Of Rocky Mount, VA Edgar Dean, 85, of Rocky Mount, VA, formerly of Earling, WV departed this life on March 17, 2010, surrounded by his family at Red Oak Manor Assisted Living, where he has resided since 2002. He was born October 24, 1924, in Lincoln County, a son of the late Dave and Edna Ferrell Dean. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Mullins Dean; one son Glen Mullins; one daughter, Geraldine Compton; three grandchildren, Pam Compton, Mark Compton, and Scotty Dean; and one great-grandchild, Jaxson Dean. Edgar was an equipment operator for Chessie Systems at Peach Creek, WV for 42 years. Those left to cherish his memory are two daughters, Patty (Larry) Toler of Glade Hill, VA, and Brenda (Jerry) Reed of Macomb, MI; three brothers, Gary (June) Dean of New Haven, MI, Wade (Sharon) Dean of Carsonvile, MI, and Freddie (Elaine) Dean of Gilbert, WV; 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, his extended family at Red Oak Manor Assisted Living, and a host of other relatives and friends. The Dean family would like to thank Gentle Shepherd Hospice, especially Stephanie Smith and the staff of Red Oak Manor who cared and loved him so much. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, March, 20, 2010, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Charles Bullock officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill, WV. Friends may call one hour prior to services on Saturday. Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man is in charge of the arrangements.
