Obituary of Dale E. Christian

Dale E. Christian, 93, of Melbourne, FL, formerly of Mallory, WV, joined his wife, Martha Rose, in their heavenly home on Monday, August 14, 2017, leaving from Holmes Regional Medical Center at Melbourne, after complications from surgery. He was born September 29, 1923, at Lorado, WV, a son of the late Thomas K. and Pearl Davis Christian. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Martha Rose Christian; and one brother, Glenn Christian. Dale was a coal miner formerly employed with Powellton Coal Company and was a member of the UMWA District 17. A Navy veteran of WWII, Dale was an electrician on the submarine the U.S.S. Hammerhead. He was a member of the Mallory Missionary Baptist Church at Mallory, WV. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Those left to cherish his memory are one son, David (Rosemarie) Christian of Melbourne, FL; one granddaughter, Caitlin Christian of Orlando, FL; one sister, Geraldine Bailey of Orange Park, FL; and one nephew, John (Vicky) Kossos of Avon, IN along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 19, 2017, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man, WV with Rev. Ollie Parsons officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill where military honors will be observed. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the funeral home also.
