Edith Marie "Bugs" Evans
of Mallory, WV
Edith Marie "Bugs" Evans, 79, of Mallory, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, June 3, 2014, from her home, after a long illness.
She was born November 8, 1934, at Mallory, the daughter of the late J.H. "Jim" and Augusta Davis Mills.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years, Claude "Glen" Evans; one son, Jackie Edward Evans; two sisters, Beulah Mills and Carol Browning; and one brother, Raymond Mills.
Edith was employed with Pride as a Headstart teacher and social worker for over 25 years. She was an avid fan of the "Trading Post" on WVOW and spent her life helping others. Throughout her life, she played the piano at several area churches and was currently the pianist at her home church, Greenbranch Freewill Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish her memory are three children, Glenna (Buddy) Preston of Man, Pam (Mike) Vest and Johnny Evans, both of Mallory; one brother Donald Mills of Landville; four grandchildren, Chuck, Chris, and Chad Preston, and Heather Vest Collins; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 6, 2014, at the Greenbranch Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. James Ellis and Brother Robert Perry officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the church and one hour prior to services.
Pall bearers will be family and friends.
