Obituary of Bernice T. Toler

Please share a memory of Bernice to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Bernice T. Toler Of Robinette, WV Bernice T. Toler, 76, of Robinette, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 22, 2017, from St. Mary's Hospital at Huntington. She was born on May 11, 1941, a daughter of the late Rev. Delbert and Mary Gibson Toler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Ann Adkins and other relatives. Bernice attended the Becco United Baptist Church. She had also served as a Sunday school teacher and clerk at the old Lundale Freewill Baptist Church years ago. She also sang---like an angel. Being raised in a ministerial family, Bernice became a Christian at a young age and never departed from the straight and narrow path that leads to heaven. She retired from her work at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home several years ago---a job in which she took great pride. The help she gave to the many families she met as a support specialist at the funeral home displayed her kindness and faith as she touched the lives of those she served. Her willingness to help in any situation, quick wit, and her ability to take a "secret to the grave" was a constant source of inspiration to those who had the privilege to work beside her. Although retired, she continued to be a part of the Krantz-McNeely Family and will be deeply missed. Bernice was a nurse and a nanny to nearly all of the family, taking care of the sick and helping the little ones get a good start in life. Her loving care planted many seeds that flourish in her family and friends today. She also loved holiday cooking for the family when they all came "home". An awesome cook, Bernice will long be remembered for her Old Fashion Stack Cake, her biscuits, made from scratch with no measurements or recipe, and her chicken and dumplings. She liked to lounge and watch TV while sipping red Kool-Aid. Bernice loved people, listening to gospel music, and talking about "old times". Hers was a life rich in love, meaning, and purpose. "Press on!" Those left to cherish her memory are her brothers, Billy Ray (Marie) Toler of Franklin, KY and Jimmy (Anita) Toler of Pecks Mill; two sisters, Jewell Toler of Cyclone and Velena Osborne of Accoville; nieces and nephews, Eileen (David) May, Naomia (Barry) Browning, Michael (Kim) Toler, Tommy Adkins, Jimmy (Crystal) Toler, Michele (Tim) Kerrigan, Melloney (Steve) Hudelson, Joseph (Trina) Osborne, Chastity (Dan) Honeycutt, and Martin Toler; several great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews; two of her great-nieces, Marianna Liggett and Rachel May, thought of Bernice as a grandmother; her church family along with a host of other relatives and many, many friends. A celebration of Bernice's precious life will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 26, 2017, at the Becco United Baptist Church at Becco with Rev. P.J. Tomblin officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby. Visitation will be held from 4 until 9 p.m. Thursday at the Becco United Baptist Church and one hour prior to services also. Pall bearers will be family and friends. A special thank you goes out to the responding ambulance crew, the staff at Logan Regional Medical Center, the staff at St. Mary's Hospital, and to Heather, a sister-in-Christ, who stayed with Bernice in the late night/early morning hours. Special thanks to all who prayed for Bernice and the family and/or said or did anything kind toward them. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man
