Obituary of Billie Richard Lycan

Please share a memory of Billie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Billie Richard Lycan Of Amherstdale, WV Billie Richard Lycan, age 73, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 24, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at Logan Regional Medical Center at Logan, after an extended illness. He was born on July 14, 1943 at Tripp, a son of the late Ralph and Donna Damron Lycan. He was a 1961 graduate of Fort Gay High School and retired after 31 years of service from Norfolk Southern Railroad. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Bill enjoyed life to the fullest, spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Reds play each year and was a fan of Ohio State. An animal lover, Bill tried to take care of every stray that was dropped at his doorstep. His sense of humor, kindness and compassion will be greatly missed. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Odd Fellows, and was a dedicated member of God's Lighthouse Church at Loredo. "God saw he was getting tired, and a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around him and whispered "come with me." With tear filled eyes we watched him suffer and saw him fade away, although we loved him dearly, we could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating here, hard working hands to rest; God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best." Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Dovie Sue Gibson Lycan; 7 children, David and Jane Lycan of Huntington, Melissa Lycan and Lenn Johnson of Raleigh, NC, Ella Maynard of Fort Gay, Fred Daniels of Tomahawk, KY, George Jude, Jr. of Amherstadale, Ollie Kay and Lonnie Jude of Braeholm, and Allman and Hope Maynard of Kistler; 19 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; his sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Don Ross and his brother and sister-in-law, James and Eula Lycan of Fort Gay and his brother and sister-in-law Joe and Cheryl Lycan of Williamson. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, February 27, 2017, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man with Pastor David Gibson, Rev. Debbie Price, and Rev. Greg Crouse officiating. Masonic burial rites will be conducted by the Iaeger Masonic Lodge. Mr. Lycan will be laid to rest at Daniels Cemetery on Buffalo Creek. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home where a service will begin at 7 p.m. with Pastor David Gibson and Rev. Scottie Elswick officiating and honors will be conducted by the Logan Odd Fellow Lodge.
