Rosalie Bateman Cooper Toler
Of Madison Creek, WV
Rosalie Bateman Cooper Toler, 81, of Madison Creek gained her heavenly wings and joined the angels and her heavenly father in heaven on February 6, 2017, leaving from Logan Regional Medical Center after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She left this world surrounded by her loving family.
She was born April 4, 1935, at Burnwell in Kanawha County, a daughter of the late Elgie Raymond and Grace Bell Burford Bateman.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Winfield Scott Cooper, Sr.; her second husband, Elmer Ray Toler; two sons, Richard Cooper and Raymond Lee Cooper; two daughters, Lucille Frances Marcum and Barbara Jean McCoy; two sons-in-law, Dewey McCoy and Ray Allen Webb; one great-grandson, Cruiz Cooper; two sisters, Patsy Adkins and Betty Patrick; and five brothers, Frank, Joseph "Joe", Ronald, Bobby Joe, and Ted Bateman.
Rosalie was a home maker. She was a member of the Full Gospel Fellowship Church and since is closure attended the Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church at Rita. She enjoyed playing cards with family and will long be remembered for cheating at Rummy, sewing, eating candy, and watching her "story", Days of Our Lives.
Those left to cherish her memory are four daughters, Naomi McCoy (Randy Boyd) of Lake, Florence Webb of Leesburg, GA, Denise (Danny) Perry of Chapmanville, and Gracie (Kenny) Laws of Madison Creek; two sons, Winfield (Connie) Cooper, Jr. with whom she made her home and John (Juanita) Cooper, both of Madison Creek; a daughter-in-law, Becky Cooper of Madison Creek; a son-in-law, Walter Marcum of Madison Creek; one sister, Mercedes "Mert" Lucille Matheny of Cincinnati, OH; a sister-in-law, Anna Lou Bateman of Oak Hill; 22 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Thursday, February 9, 2017, at the Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church at Rita with Rev. Eddie Isom and Rev. Vernon Nichols officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
Friends may call from 6 – 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church and one hour prior to services at the church also.
Pall bearers will be friends and family.
We would like to thank the wonderful nurses and staff on the 3rd floor of Logan Regional Medical Center for making her transition easier. We would also like to thank all of the friends she made at Trinity Healthcare.
