James David Kilgore of Davin, WV James David Kilgore, 79, of Davin, went to his Heavenly home on Thursday, January 12, 2017, leaving this world from Logan Regional Medical Center at Logan after a long illness. He was born on November 5, 1937, in Logan County, a son of the late Kermit and Mary Magdalene Gearhart Kilgore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Clarence Kilgore; his sister, Betty Paynter; and a loving aunt who helped raise him, Lola Miller. James was a retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA. He was a 1955 graduate of Man High School. After graduation, James served in the U.S. Army. Prior to leaving this world, James was attending Becco United Baptist Church which he dearly loved. James was a talented poet whose poetry hangs in various area churches. He enjoyed reading and especially loved history. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 58 years, Helen Marie Adkins Kilgore; two sons, David Shane Kilgore of Davin and Jeffrey James Kilgore of Newport News, VA; two grand-daughters, Kari and Jessica; one sister, Beulah Chapman of Chicago, IL; and several nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends. In honor of James' request his remains have been cremated. A memorial gathering will be held from 6:00 until 7:30 P.M. Saturday, June 17, 2017, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man.
