Joyce Ann Elkins
of Lyburn, WV
The Lord gained another angel when Joyce Ann Elkins, 78, of Lyburn, left this earth for her Heavenly home on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, surrounded by her loving family at CAMC-Memorial Division, after a sudden illness.
She was born January 27, 1938, in Mingo County, a daughter of the late Garland Booth and Virginia Ann Pack Booth Stanley.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, John Stanley; her daughter, Kelly Elkins; her grandson, Hal Eplin; and her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, June and Oscar "Shorty" Hurley, Max and Mary Elkins, Paul Murrmann, Connie Baisden, and Jack Elkins.
Joyce was a home maker and loving mother whose greatest passion in this life was her family and church family. She was a member of the Lyburn Freewill Baptist Church where she was a member of the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed shopping, reading, and watching Criminal Minds. A longtime avid Chicago Cubs fan, Joyce was ecstatic when "her cubs" won the 2016 World Series.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 59 years, Halbert "Buddy" Elkins, Jr.; three children, Deanna (Gary) Eplin of Davin, Dana (Wayne Jackson) Elkins of Charleston, and Christopher (Katie) Elkins of Chapmanville; four grandchildren, Justin Elkins of Wheeling Island, Hali Eplin of Charlotte, NC, Meigel (Brittany) Elkins of Charleston, and Rece Elkins of Temple, TX; four great-grandchildren, Logan Elkins, Kaidyn Elkins, Kadin Elswick, and Kynzley Elkins; two brothers, Donald (Evelyn) Booth of Cedar Bluff, VA and Randy (Lynn) Stanley of Petersburg, VA; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Vicky Elkins, Judy Murrmann, Tommy and Debbie Elkins, Sandy Elkins, and Phil Baisden; many loving nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives, friends, and church family.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017, at the Lyburn Freewill Baptist Church at Lyburn with Rev. Jody Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
Visitation will be held from 12 until 2 p.m. on Saturday at the church also.
Pall bearers will be family and friends.
