Obituary of Phillip Franklin

Phillip Franklin of Amherstdale, WV Phillip Franklin, 66, of Amherstdale, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 14, 2016, leaving from Hubbard Hospice House, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on September 15, 1950, at Riley Camp, a son of Vernon H. Franklin of Amherstdale with whom he made his home and the late Icelean "Mousie" McClain Franklin. Phillip was a 1969 graduate of Man High School. He then attended the United Electronics Institute where he graduated as an electronic technician. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Navy for four years and completed two years in the U.S. Navy Reserve. He was a retired electrician formerly employed with Delta Electric at Logan. Phillip was a member of the Church of Christ at Davin where he was baptized on August 7, 2016. He was a proud lifetime member of the National Rifleman's Association. He enjoyed watching college football and attending gun shows at Beckley. Those left to cherish his memory, in addition to his father, are two brothers, Michael (Debora) Franklin of Alum Creek and Timothy (Drema) Franklin of Kistler; one nephew, Brandon (Lyndsey) Franklin of Davin; one great-nephew, Tayden Franklin; his aunts and uncles, Roy and Glenna Franklin, Freddy and Marty Franklin, Jewell McNeely Luxon, Donna Jean Adkins, Louise and Lionel Ellis, Loretta Grass, Janice Elkins, and Bob and Vella McClain; and many cousins along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 12 p.m. on Monday, October 17, 2016, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man with Minister James Harry Farley and Minister Freddy Franklin officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens where military graveside services will be observed. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the funeral home also. Pall bearers will be family and friends.
