Hazel Adams Hunter
of Greenvalley, WV
Hazel Hunter of Greenvalley, formerly of Accoville, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, June 29, 2016, leaving from Logan Regional Medical Center.
She was born on December 7, 1922, at Elizabeth, LA, a daughter of the late Lucious and Rosie Adams.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Connie W. Hunter; two brothers, Lucious Jr. and Hammond Adams; one sister, Willie Mae Bradford.
Hazel was a home maker and a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. A member of the Original Glorious Church of God in Christ at Taplin where she served as one of the Church Mothers. In 2015 she received the Church Mother Award from the Church Organization. She enjoyed reading her Bible, embroidery, and sewing. Her children and grandchildren were the love of her life. She was referred to as Mother and fondly called Mum Mum by her great-grandchildren. Hazel loved and encouraged many people by telling them a scripture to lead them to Christ. She will be greatly missed by her family and a host of friends.
Those left to miss her and cherish her memory are three daughters, Annie Hunter Johnson, Valerie Hunter, and Dorothy Hunter, all of Greenvalley; one son, Curtis and Alice Hunter of Accoville; two grand-daughters, Kristi and Pete Ford of Columbia, MD and Alisa Johnson and Bryant Waller of Huntington; two grandsons, Michael Hunter of Man and Ethan Anthony Hunter of Accoville; two great-grandchildren, Jordan Nicole Ford and Jaycee Erin Hunter; and one brother, Clem C. Adams of Oneonta, AL along with a host of other relatives and friends.
The family is comforted because they know to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at the Original Glorious Church of God in Christ at Taplin with Elder Leroy Shaw officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the church also.
Pall bearers will be Orlando Washington, Robert Jones, Paul Clark, Tracy Jones, Tyrone Pollard, and Ernie Shaw.
Honorary pall bearers will be Deacon Andrew Thomas, Deacon Tommy Jackson, Evang. Kenneth Christian, Brother Charles Hopson, and Kevin Washington.
