Billy Ray "B.I." Nelson
of Amherstdale, WV
Billy Ray "B.I." Nelson, 63, of Amherstdale, formerly of Man and Taplin, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, leaving from his home, after an extended illness.
He was born May 5, 1953, at Logan, a son of Virginia "Jenny" Scites Nelson of Man and the late Byrd Nelson, Jr.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Nelson; one brother, Robert Earl "Bobby" Nelson; and two nephews, Terrance Lee Nelson and Geary Dale Nelson Harless.
B.I was a 1974 graduate of Man High School. He worked at White's Armature Works for many years before becoming disabled. B.I. attended Mallory Church of God. When he was able, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. B.I. loved spending time with his family. He never met a stranger and was well known everywhere he went.
Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Virginia "Jenny" Nelson of Man; two brothers, James (Linda) Layton of Detroit, MI and Geary (Martha) Nelson of Beckley; three sisters, Brenda Stepp of Jasper, AL, Therisa (Ronald) McCoy of Amherstdale, and Lisa (Joe) Chapman of Man; his sister-in-law, Judy Nelson of Claypool; two step-daughters, Teresa and Frances Saunders; two step-sons, Edward Saunders and Shawn (Jenny) Saunders; many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2016, at Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man with Rev. Shaun Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and one hour prior to services at the funeral home also.
Pall bearers will be Brandon Carter, Bryan and Jamie Layton, Chris Jacobs, Jermiah Harless, and James Dawson.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man.
