Marcillous McMillian of Green Valley, WV Servant of God well done. God in His love and mercy has taken from our mist Mr. Marcillous McMillian, who departed this life Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Charleston. Mr. McMillian was born January 10, 1922, at Clinton, AL, the youngest child of the late Mr. Willie McMillian and Mrs. Helen Glenn McMillian. To this union 13 children were born, 9 boys and 4 girls. In addition to his parents, he was preceded from this life by two sons, Tazwell Lee Clemons and Harold Ray "Rabbitt" Knaff; and 12 siblings. Mr. McMillian served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre during WWII where he achieved the rank of Corporal and participated in the Rome-Arno Campaign. After the war, he came to Logan County where he settled in Lorado and gained employment as a coal miner. Later he moved to Stowe and after the 1972 Buffalo Creek Disaster was relocated to Green Valley. Mr. McMillian was a proud member of the UMWA and the VFW. A long time member of St. James Baptist Church, he served faithfully until his health failed but maintained a strong determination to serve the Lord. When he was able, Mr. McMillian could be counted on to serve as a church usher and provide transportation to and from church functions. His humble nature allowed him to be a true servant of the Lord through his willingness to quietly fill any church need. Rejoicing in the memory of times spent with him are Lisa Porter-Tolliver, Reggie Coleman, MacCiel Clemons-Lovitt, Marsha Woolard and other extended family members, his church family, and the many people whose lives he has touched. A celebration of Life service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2016, at the St. James Baptist Church at Kistler with Rev. Joseph D. Moore and Rev. Mike Pollard officiating. Burial will follow in Guyan Memorial Gardens at Godby where military graveside rites will be conducted by VFW Post 6153 and American Legion Post 103 of Chapmanville and DAV Post 39 of Harts. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Friday at the church also. Pall bearers will be Michael Tolliver, Sr., Linzy Collins, Tyrone Pollard, Greg Jackson, Bobby Jones, and James "Elliott" Steele.
