Bobby Lee Clay, Sr.
of Lorado, WV
Bobby Lee Clay, Sr., 67, of Lorado, departed this life on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at home after an extended illness.
He was born March 19, 1949, at Lorado, a son of the late Wayne and Vangeline Clark Clay.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda L. Belcher Clay; two brothers, Leroy Clay and Billy "Bozo" Clay.
Bobby was a coal miner who retired from Pittston Coal Company. He was an Army veteran who served in Viet Nam from 1967 until 1970. For bravery under difficult circumstances he received a Bronze Star. Bobby loved the mountains especially riding on his 4-wheeler with his friends. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Those left to cherish his memory are one daughter; Stephanie Ryan of Man; two sons, Freddie Joe Belcher and Bobby Lee "Junebob" Clay, Jr., both of Lorado; ten grandchildren, Brandon Ellis who Bobby helped raise, Mitchell (Kristin) Ellis, Jamie (Jeremy) Johnson, Brianna Peters, Cody Peters, Nick Belcher, Austin Amburgey, Kelsey Belcher, Kristin Harden, and Caleb Vance; three sisters, Betty (Danny) Brooks, Judy Francis, and Brenda (Hal) Bellomy; one brother, Larry (Billie Jean) Clay; and five great-grandchildren along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 10, 2016, at the Lundale Freewill Baptist Church at Lundale with Rev. Bobby Adkins and Rev. Harry "Buddy" Hager officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill, where military graveside rites will be conducted by VFW Post 6153 & American Legion Post 103 of Chapmanville, and DAV Post 39 of Harts.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Saturday at the Lundale Freewill Baptist Church and one hour prior to services also.
Pall bearers will be Leon Cazin, Jr., Timmy Crowder, Randy Jude, Jason Dickerson, Cal Grimmett, and James Miller.
Honorary pall bearers will be Bobby's nephews and grandsons.
