Obituary of Helen I. Cogar

Helen I. Cogar of Davin, WV Helen I. Cogar, 89, of Davin, departed this life Saturday, November 28, 2015, at the Logan Center, after a long illness. She was born March 12, 1926, at Swiss, a daughter of the late Morgan Alexander and Hettie Rhodes McClung. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Loren Burton Cogar; eight sisters; and three brothers. Helen was a home maker. A member of the Mallory Church of God, she loved going to church. An excellent cook, Helen enjoyed cooking for her family and spending time with them. Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, Lowell Burton (Betty) Cogar of Daniels and Noel D. (Janice) Cogar of Davin; one daughter, Pamela (Danny) Gibson of Davin; six grandchildren, Bridgette (John) Moelter of Coral Springs, FL, John (Christina) Cogar of Daniels, Noel (Lori) Cogar, Jr. of Oceana, Amy (Ty) Cook of Combs Addition, Loren R. (Clint) Adkins of Marion, AR, and Megan (Chris) Berry of Elkview; 18 great-grandchildren, Chase Cogar, Brooke Cogar, Anthony Watkins, Hannah Watkins, Christopher Moore, Madelyn Cogar, Joseph Moelter, Samuel Moelter, Benjamin Moelter, Matthew Moelter, Jonathan Totarche; Jordan (Adam) Davis, Justin Cogar, Jaxon Cogar, Baylee Jo Cook, Sydney Adkins, Mia Adkins, Aubrey Berry; and her church family along with a host of other relatives and friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Sells and the staff of Logan Center for their care and compassion. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at the Mallory Church of God with Rev. Shaun Walker and Rev. Johnny Hatfield officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the church and one hour prior to services at the church also. Pall bearers will be grandsons.
