Thelma Waters
Of Verner, WV
Thelma Waters, 81, of Verner, went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, from her home, after a long illness.
She was born on September 21, 1932, at Lyburn, the daughter of the late Ralph and Clara Allen Greene.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Waters; two sisters, Virginia Vance and Helen Moffitt; two brothers, Leonard Greene and Clarence Greene; and several infant siblings.
Thelma worked at Rio Grande University and Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, and Scotten-Dillon Tobacco Company. She was a wonderful home maker, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Thelma was Christian who was strong in her faith and was an inspiration to her family throughout her illness. Thelma's great joy was to teach her family to play music and sing for the gospel of Jesus Christ, playing in many churches, revivals, and various radio stations in Southern Ohio. They were known as the "Waters Family".
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 63 years, Rev. Jack Waters; two sons, Jack Ed Waters, Jr. and Joe Waters, both of Verner; five sisters, Grace Lawson of Springfield, OH, Juanita (Ed) Kocks of Tip City, OH, Shirley McClure of Man, Judy Wright of Combs Addition, and Brenda (James) Conley of VA; one brother, Russell (Jackie) Greene of Man; three grandchildren, Joe Edwin (Angie) Waters II, Rachel Waters, and Jerry Lee Waters; two great-grandchildren, Cadence Elizabeth Waters and Quinn Edwin Waters; and many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.
In honor of Thelma's wishes, there will be no services and her remains will be cremated.
