Ed "The Brick Layer" Smith
Of Lorado, WV
Ed "The Brick Layer' Smith, 72, of Lorado, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, November 11, 2015, leaving from CAMC-Memorial Division, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born February 8, 1943, at Robinette, a son of the late Virgil Lee Smith and Leora Stepp Kelly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by, his grandparents, who raised him, Jim and Amy Stepp; and two brothers, Ronnie Smith and Paul Kelly.
Ed worked in the mines for about five years, but had a passion for masonry work which he did for over fifty years. An avid outdoorsman, Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing, and prospecting for gold, but most importantly, he accepted the Lord on Tuesday, November 3, 2015.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 36 years, Edith Gibson Smith; nine children, Samantha Osborne of NC, Teresa (Todd) Smith and Edward (Rhonda) Smith, Jr. both of Paris, TN, Carolyn (Richard) Rakes of Robinette, Shawn Clay and James Smith both of Oceana, Samuel Smith of Lorado, Nathaniel (Amanda) Smith of Amherstdale, and Jeremy "Herbie" Smith of Lorado; a special niece and God daughter, Patricia Lee (Mark) Scites of Crown; one brother, John Kelly of Columbus, OH; one sister, Sharon Buzard Lacy of Columbus, OH; 21 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, November 16, 2015, at Lundale Freewill Baptist Church at Lundale with Rev. Bobby Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in Stowe Cemetery at Stowe.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the church and one hour prior to services also.
Pall bearers will be grandsons and friends.
