Rodney L. Smith
of Madison Creek, WV
Rodney L. Smith, 46, of Madison Creek, departed this life on Sunday, November 8, 2015, at Logan Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness.
He was born on October 26, 1969, at West Hamlin, a son of the late Rev. Bobby Gene Smith, Sr. and Geneva Marie Brown Smith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Bobby Gene Smith, Jr.; and his grandparents, Rev. Henry Jay Smith and Ardith Dial Smith and Joseph and Hannah Jane Burgess Brown.
Rodney was a security guard employed with Appalachian Security Inc. at Pikeville, KY. He enjoyed coon hunting, riding his street bike, trading, and spending time with his family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memory are the love of his life, Gwen Smith of Kistler; one daughter, Geneva (David) Argueta of Houston, TX; one son, William Jennings "Jenny" Smith at home; one granddaughter, Crimson Argueta; seven sisters, Shelia (Bill) Chandler of Christian, Ardith (Danny) Hatfield of Madison Creek, Rachel Arnold of Columbus, GA, Beverly (Angus) Mullins of Walton, Patricia Newsome of Delbarton, Donna (Joseph) Maynard of Taplin, and Joyce (Donzel) Grimmett of Green Valley; three brothers, David Smith and Timothy Smith, both of Madison Creek, and Erwin (Kimberly) Smith of Lyburn; and many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at the Lyburn Freewill Baptist Church at Lyburn with Rev. Arbie Adkins and Rev. Eddie Isom officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery at Madison Creek.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the church and one hour prior to services also.
Pall bearers will be James Ball, James Ellis, Billy Brown, T.J. Smith, Randy Blair, Bobby Smith, and Joe Smith.
