Obituary of Icelene Adkins

Icelene Adkins, 81, of Davin, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 18, 2015, leaving from her home, after a long illness.
She was born April 16, 1934, at Olive Hill, KY, the daughter of the late Bryson Ernest and Gladys Waddell Manning.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde and Ray Manning; three sisters, Kat Paynter, Christine Rose, and Arlene Manning; and one grandson, Shane Lester.
Icelene was a home maker. When she was able, Icelene attended the Mallory Church of God. She loved to cook and took great pride in her canning. Everyone loved Icelene's baked goods and she enjoyed raising African violets.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 64 years, Bobby Adkins; one daughter, Darlene (Rev. John) Spears of Holden; one son, Bobby Lee (Karen) Adkins of Huntington; four grandchildren, J.D. (Malissa) Lester, Leigh Ann (Roger) Merritt, Rebecca Adkins, and Brandon (April) Manning; six great-grandchildren, Sarah Lester, Bryce and Nickolas Lester, Roger and Joseph Merritt, and Bethany Manning; two sisters, Sandra Black of Florida and Patty (Jim) Nesbit of Kingsport, TN; and one brother, Ronnie (Sandy) Manning.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 23, 2015, at the Davin Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Hatfield and Rev. Donnie Wells officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Davin Baptist Church.
