Willa A. Zornes
Of Man, WV
Willa A. Zornes, 76, of Man, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, March 27, 2014. She departed this life at her home surrounded by her immediate family who loved her dearly.
She was born on April 12, 1937, the daughter of the late Homer and Ruby Bryant Ackison.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward L. Zornes; one brother, Homer R. Ackison; her parents-in-law, Earl and Ettaree Zornes; and one brother-in-law, Jimmy Zornes.
Mrs. Zornes graduated from Man High School and Marshall University with a degree in Home Economics. She returned to Man High School where she spent her entire 30 year teaching career. Mrs. Zornes will always be remembered as a caring teacher who inspired her students to do their best and was always genuinely happy when they succeeded.
Willa was an active member of the Bruce McDonald Memorial United Methodist Church where she served as a past secretary of the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Old Man High Alumni Association and the Man Red Hat Divas.
Those left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Terri (Bill) Clark of Kistler and Valerie (Jeff) Swiger of Clarksburg; one son, Edward E. Zornes of Lexington, MD; two grandchildren, Todd (Gina) Clark of Man and Jillian (Craig) Miller of Kistler; two great-grandchildren, Sydnee and Carley Miller, both of Kistler; two sisters, Norma Brown of Kistler and Patty (Oscar) Davis of Edmond, OK; one brother, Larry (Barbara) Ackison of Virginia Beach, VA; one sister-in-law, Dolores Ackison of Man; one brother-in-law, Kenneth (Liz) Zornes of Dallas, TX; and many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.
A celebration of her life service will be held at 12 noon Monday, March 31, 2014, at the Bruce McDonald Memorial United Methodist Church at Man with Rev. Randy Scites officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Friends may gather one hour prior to services at the church also.
Honoring Willa's request, her remains have been cremated.
In lieu of flowers, she has asked that donations be made to the Bruce McDonald Memorial United Methodist Church, 104 E. McDonald Ave., Man, WV 25635.
