William Burton Burgess
of Neola, WV
William Burton "Bill" Burgess, 70, of Neola, formerly of Robinette, passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2015, at CAMC-General Division.
He was born on June 1, 1945, at Amherstdale, the son of Esta Barbara Kasey Burgess of Robinette and the late Dewey Burgess.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by three brothers, W.H. "Wimpy" Burgess, David Lee Burgess, and Dewey Burgess, Jr.
Bill was a retired coal miner formerly employed with Amherst Coal Company and Arch Minerals. He was a member of the UMWA local 5857. Bill was baptized at the Neola Baptist Church where he attended from April 9, 2015 until his passing. A man who loved the outdoors, Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Those left to cherish his memory, in addition to his mother, are his wife of 51 years, Thelma Rose Browning Burgess; one son, William Burton (Judy) Burgess, Jr. of Martinsburg; two grandchildren, Ian William Burgess and Billy Junior Burgess, both of Martinsburg; two sisters, Geneive (Roy Edward) Osborne of Lorado and Debra Huffman of Robinette; two sisters-in-law, Lorene Browning of Elkhart, IN and Karen Burgess of Accoville; one brother-in-law, Basil Browning of Fort Gay; many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 25, 2015, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Vance officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
Visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. Monday at the Neola Baptist Church at Neola where a service will begin at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Ralph Hubbard officiating. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to services at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man on Tuesday.
Pall bearers will be nephews and grandsons.
