Obituary of A. Millard Cochrane

Millard Cochrane, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, went home to be with the Lord on January 1, 2025. He was born in Mallory on May 11, 1941, the last of eight children to the late Millard and Garnet Cochrane. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Steve Cochrane, along with his brothers, Lon, Donald Ray, Kenneth, and David, and his sisters, Ruth, Edith, and Phyllis Jean. Born with a passion for sports, Millard was a lifelong fan of the Cincinnati Reds and a supporter of the West Virginia Mountaineers. He dedicated more than 20 years to coaching Little League Baseball and Midget League football, sharing his love of the game and inspiring countless young athletes. He was an active member of Claypool Methodist Church, where he worshipped and found great joy listening to Southern gospel music. A proud veteran, Millard served his country honorably in the United States Army. His service and sacrifice were a testament to his unwavering love for his country. Above all else, Millard cherished his family. His love and dedication to them were evident in every aspect of his life. He will be remembered as a source of strength, wisdom, and unconditional love. Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 58 years, Sue Lester Cochrane of Greenville; a daughter, Jean Ann and her husband Harold McCoy of Greenville; daughter-in-law, Missy Cochrane of Man; four grandsons, Jacob and his wife Lindsay McCoy of Columbus OH, John McCoy and his fiancé Allie Fortner of Verner, Erik and Evan Cochrane both of Man, Great-Grandchildren—Asa and Erin McCoy of OH, and Ruzek Alexander due in February. Pallbearers will be grandsons, family, and friends. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 10th, 2025, at the Claypool Methodist Church at Davin, with Rev. Tim Shuff officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby. Family and friends will gather for visitation from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the church Friday prior to services.
