Obituary of Violet Jean Toth

Please share a memory of Violet to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Violet Jean Toth, 72, of Elk Creek, went home to be with her Lord and Savior from St. Mary’s Medical Center on Thursday, December 12th, 2024, after a courageous battle. She was born on December 27, 1951, in Logan and was the daughter of the late George Hurley, Elba and Maxine Taylor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her four brothers, Ronald, Charles, Bruce, and Billy Ray Hurley. Violet was a faithful member of Gilman Bottom Community Tabernacle, where she served tirelessly as a Sunday School teacher and a dedicated member of the Ladies Aide. Her unwavering faith and kind spirit were a light to all who knew her, and she lived her life as an example of Christ’s love. Violet held a master’s degree in education and devoted her career to shaping young minds as a Logan County Board of Education teacher. She cared deeply for her students and inspired them with warmth, wisdom, and encouragement. Teaching was not just her profession but her calling, and she left an indelible mark on countless lives. Her favorite scripture guided her life: “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” (Psalms 51:10), a verse that perfectly reflects the grace and faith that she embodied. She will be remembered for her steadfast faith, love of family, and passion for education. Violet’s compassion, grace, and enduring kindness will be dearly missed but forever cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing her. Those left to cherish the memory are her loving husband of 55 years, William “Butch” Toth; her sister, Georgia (Pokey) Morgan, and husband Danny Layne of Spice Creek; brother, Mike and Kim Hurley of FL, three very special Nieces, that she loved dearly, Leslie Morgan, of Spice Creek, Kelli Steffey of PA, and Becky Mullins of Gilman Bottom; along with a host of other relatives, church family, and friends. Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home, with Rev. Charlie Abraham officiating and Rev. Jon Hawkins assisting with services. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
