Obituary of Betty Sue Ellis

Betty Sue Ellis, 69, of Davin, WV, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 7, 2024, following a year-long battle with cancer. She was born on October 24, 1955, in Logan and was the daughter of the late Steve and Mary Adkins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Dale Ellis; three brothers, Herman, Bill, and Ulysses Brown; and three sisters, Agnus "Big Ag" Gurskey, Brenda Lee Brickles, and Judy Frye. Betty worked at Gino's and several other businesses in Man before moving to Charlotte, North Carolina. She worked for the Drury Inn and Suites in Charlotte, NC, for approximately 20 years before retiring as Executive Housekeeper. She looked forward to spending time with her friends and family and loved spending time at the beach. Those left to cherish the memory of Betty are her daughter Sherry (Chopper) Cantrell of Lakeland, Florida; son, Steven Joshua Ellis of Bruno; seven Grandchildren: Mandy (Gary) Hatfield, Joshua Cantrell, Rayland "Savannah" Ellis, Bryson Huff, Jerry Dale Ellis, II, Miley Sky Ellis, Madison Jade Ellis; two great-grandsons: Ian Blake and Eli Mason Hatfield; a very special niece, Jenny (Gary) Cunningham; and her very best friend of many years Jackie Wasserman. Betty also has many nieces, nephews, former coworkers, and a host of other family and friends who will cherish her memory. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the Greenville Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Cantrell officiating and assisted by Rev. Baxter Toler. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024, from 6 to 9 p.m. At Greenville Freewill Baptist Church. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family would like you to make a donation to a cancer organization of your choice.
