Obituary of Jean Story
Please share a memory of Jean to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Addie “Jean” Story, 74, of Greenville, WV, went to be with the Lord on October 22, 2024, following an extended illness.
Born on July 30, 1950, in Greenville, WV, she was one of nineteen children of the late Dewey and Stella Trent. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, True “Jay” Story, her grandson Liam, five brothers, and eight sisters.
Jean spent much of her early adult life in Brooksville, FL, where she met her husband, Jay, and is where four of their six children were born. Later, she returned to her hometown in West Virginia, where she remained until her passing. Jean cherished the Christmas season, playing cards with her friends, but her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She considered being a mother and grandmother her most treasured accomplishment.
Jean is survived by her two daughters, Nancy (Terry) of Greenville, WV, and Rebecca (Aaron) of Salem, WV; four sons, Jack Crawford and Sean Story, both of Greenville, Brad (Sydney) Story of Madison, WV, and Chad Story of Washington, D.C.; six grandchildren, Mindy Browning, Haley (Garrin) Blankenship, Shane (Rachael) Browning, Kara Crawford, Ashton Toler, and Brady Jay Story; and nine great-grandchildren, Brayden, Danika, Chaelstin, Abel, Dixie, Delaney, Cooper, Jolene, and Adaline. She is also survived by her two sisters, Saundra Cozart and Linda (Danny) Browning; and four brothers, Walter (Thelma “Bugs”) Trent, Doug (Lynndora) Trent, Marshall (JoAnn) Trent, and Dolen Trent.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m., Sunday, October 27, 2024, at the Hunt Freewill Baptist Tabernacle and one hour prior to services at the church also.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m, Monday, October 28, 2024, at the Hunt Freewill Baptist Tabernacle with Rev. Cecil Bartram officiating. She will be laid next to her husband at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill, WV
The family would like to thank her in-home caretakers (Mindy, Kara, and Donna), Logan Regional Medical Center staff, and Lincoln Primary Care staff (Chris Tipton and Sheila) for their years of dedication.
