Obituary of Delores Johnston

Delores Johnston, 88, of Beckley, Formerly of Man, WV, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at the Raleigh Center in Beckley following an extended illness. She was born on July 23, 1936, in Rock Castle, KY, the daughter of the late Jim and Callie Mollett Robinson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, Ray Johnston, and her beloved son, Larry Johnston; two sisters, Geraldine Bunch and Ann Trogdon, along with two brothers, Jerry Robinson and Calvin Robinson. Delores had a deep love for gospel music and a beautiful voice she shared with those around her. Singing brought her joy, and she often lifted her voice in praise. When her health allowed, she was a devoted member of her church community, where her presence and song were cherished. Spending time with her family was one of her greatest joys, and she will be remembered for the love, warmth, and guidance she provided through the years. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Those left to cherish her memories are her beloved son, Donald Ray Johnston, of Beckley; grandson, Donald Courtney Johnston, of Logan; granddaughter Elizabeth Lynn Hope and David Adkins of Dandridge, TN; four great-grandchildren, Seth Ian Johnston, Gage Issac Johnston, Leah Hope Adkins, and Mia Faith Adkins; a sister Sue and her husband Kenny Bragg of Robinette and a brother, Jimmy and his wife Joyce Robinson of Bluefield, VA along with a host of other relatives and friends. Delores will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. A Remembrance Ceremony will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 26th, 2024, at Krantz McNeely Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Pecks Mill. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
