Obituary of Boyd Lee Vance

Boyd Lee Vance, 79, of Earling, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Thursday, July 11, 2024, leaving this world peacefully from his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on June 13, 1945, at Amherstdale, the son of the late Ferlow and Leota (Chapman) Vance.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rita Jo Vance; and his sister, Betty Morris.
Boyd served in the U.S. Army from 1965 until 1968. He worked in the coal mines for over 30 years. Then he went to work for Miners Health Safety and Training where he was a Safety Instructor and helped train the men on the Mine Rescue Teams and from which he retired. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandsons. Boyd taught his three grandsons how to hunt, fish, work on cars, and be men. He liked to help anyone that needed something done and taught his grandsons carpentry while they helped him in his projects. Boyd had a special feline friend named Blackie. He will be deeply missed by those who love him.
Those left to cherish his memory are three daughters, Rita L. Vance and her fiancé, Kenneth R. Green, both of Crooked Creek, Felicity D. Vance of Lyburn, and Jennifer L. and Clyde E. Woods of Rocky Mt., VA; three special grandsons, Geoffrey M. Shull and his wife Paige, Zachary R. Shull and his fiance Elexus Havis, and Zane A. Shull; one sister, Sylvia Jean Paynter of Chesapeake, OH; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man with Bishop Shaun Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home also.
Pall bearers will be family and friends.
