Shirley Vance
of Amherstdale, WV
Shirley Vance, 86, of Amherstdale, went home to be with her Lord and Savior and was reunited with her beloved husband, Alvin, on Wednesday, July 29, 2015, leaving from Pikeville Medical Center, after an extended illness.
She was born January 13, 1929, at Gill, the daughter of the late Ira and Sarah Wallace Miller.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Alvin Vance; one great-granddaughter, Halle Hurley; two special sons-in-law, Bobby Linville and Cecil Wintz; three brothers and seven sisters; and many other loved ones.
Shirley was a member of Becco United Baptist Church for over 50 years. Throughout her life she was very active in the church helping out wherever needed. She was a member of the Ladies Aide and loved singing in the choir.
Those left to cherish her memory are four daughters who loved her dearly, Janice Vance with whom she made her home, Judy Wintz, Debbie Linville, and Mila (Joe) Hall; seven grandchildren, Lisa (Glendale) Belcher, Maria Hurley (Alante Moss), Mandi Hurley (Lee Waldrep), Ryan (Danielle) Linville, Morgan Hurley (Brittney Larkey), Dustin Hurley, and Zane Hurley; seven great-grandchildren, Matt Belcher, Jamie Riley, Seth Linville, Natalie Miller, Gabriel Wood, Bowen Hurley, and Kilee Herndon; two great-great-grandchildren, Gracelynn Belcher and Mattalynn Belcher; honorary grandchildren, Gail (Bill) Moore and Andrea Sorrell; special caregivers, Amanda Mitchem, Karen Ramsey, and Crystal Compton; her special friends, Helen Nelson, Rev. P.J., Paula, Ashley, and Taylor Tomblin, Amy Compton, Marty Hurley, and Michael Allen; and many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 2, 2015, at the Becco United Baptist Church at Becco with Rev. P.J. Tomblin officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. at the church also.
Pall bearers will be Jamie Riley, Matt Belcher, Ryan Linville, Morgan Hurley, Dustin Hurley, Michael Allen, Austin Compton, Randy Davis, Zane Hurley, and Seth Linville.
