Obituary of Alice Faye Gullett
Please share a memory of Alice to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Alice Faye Gullett, 77, of Davy’s Branch, Lyburn, departed this life on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at her residence, after a short and courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on May 22, 1946, the daughter of the late Gilbert and Bessie (Walker) Mays.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Daniel Burgess; one sister, Dorothy Mays; four brothers, Donald Gene, Orville, Mack, and Arnold “Duke” Mays; and one nephew, Lonnie Eugene Chippent.
Alice and Danny “Fleagle,” a close family member, built several houses and countless projects together. Alice found joy in collecting antiques and trinkets, gardening, and riding 4-wheelers. Alice’s unwavering love and care for her family were evident until the very end. She will be dearly missed by all who were touched by her kindness and generosity.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Teresa Burgess, and her husband, Michael of Oak Grove, KY; two grandchildren, Michael A. Burgess, and Rebecca Burgess, both of Oak Grove, KY; six great-grandchildren, Jules Burgess of Madison Creek, Kayla Gee Burgess, Kendra Gee Burgess, Michael E. D. Burgess, Rachelle Shepherd, and Olivia Evans, all of Oak Grove, KY; one great-great-grand-daughter, Ellie Wilson; three sisters, Mary Mays and Cora Mays, both of Lyburn and Karen Vance and her husband, Kenneth Vance of Ripley; a special family member, Danny “Fleagle” Maynard of Earling; our very special loving and kind day nurse who has become family, Becky Meade; two special nephews, David S. Vernatter of Ripley and David C. Vernatter of Huntington; a very kind, loving, and special niece Thrina D. Ward of Logan, along with many other nieces and nephews; and seven doggie companions; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
