Obituary of Bobby Ellis

Bobby Ellis of Landville, WV Bobby Ellis, 84, of Landville, went home Sunday, July 26, 2015 at Accoville after a short illness. He was born August 8, 1930, at Landville, the son of the late Dennis and Ivy Burgess Ellis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ward Ellis; his second wife, Geneva "Boogie" Ellis; one son, Bobby Joe Ellis; one grandson, Matthew Sean Walker; and six brothers, Joe, A.J., Sammy, Donnie, Ray, and Arland Ellis. Bob was an assistant funeral director, embalmer, and ambulance driver who retired from McNeely Funeral Home after 40 years of service. He will long be remembered for the kindness and compassion that he gave the families he served. Prior to working at the funeral home, Bob worked in the coal mines and at McNeely Hardware. He enjoyed working on cars and piddling around the house. Those left to cherish his memory are two daughters, Lynn (Rev. Harold) Ellis of Accoville and Donna Marlene (Kevin) McDonald of Jacksonville, FL; one step-son, James "Bub" Walker of Accoville; eight grandchildren, Travis Cyrus, Norman (Meredith) Ellis, Teresa Ellis, B.J. (Stacy) Ellis, Brenton Ellis, David McDonald, Corey Walker, and Heather Ellis; one sister, Mamie Gannon of OH; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 30, 2015 at the Landville Freewill Baptist Church at Landville with Rev. David Campbell and Brother Russell Nelson officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the church and one hour prior to services at the church also. In honor of Bob's wishes, his remains will be cremated.
