Obituary of Ulbert Morgan

Ulbert “Ub” Morgan of Man, WV Ulbert “Ub” Morgan, 98, of Man, joined his wife in their heavenly home on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, leaving from his earthly home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 20, 1925, at Elk Creek, the son of the late Wirt and Ethel (Kennedy) Morgan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Helen (Wolford) Morgan; two infant daughters, Carol Sue Morgan and Sandra Fay Morgan; one son, Douglas Lee Morgan; a special son-in-law, Jerry Lee Plymale; his parents-in-law, Troy and Carrie (Bond) Wolford; sisters, Laurie (Laymon) Toler , Esther (Jay) Cline, Gay (Linze) Brown, Betty (Jack) Toler, and Linda (James) Elswick; brothers, Charlie (Grace) Morgan and June; and infant brothers, Gus and Enoch; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, James Wolford, Scott (Claudette) Wolford, Mary (Bill) Thompson, Peggy (Tom) Coley, Alden Browning, Gary Fulton and Darlene Morgan. Ub was a loving, faithful, and the oldest member of Big Spring Missionary Baptist Church at Mallory. He was a coal miner for 46 years. Ub was a proud member of the UMWA for 76 years. He was a devoted husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, and friend. Ub enjoyed working on old Jeeps and was a talented handy man. He enjoyed riding ATVs, visiting the old home place at Elk Creek, and drinking his morning coffee at the Cliffside with the “Liars Club”. Ub also enjoyed riding around on Sunday after church and going out to dinner. He loved watching the old westerns, spending time with his family, especially his grandbabies. Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Brenda Plymale, Kenneth (Marlene) Morgan, Janet Morgan, and Lisa (Kenny) Sias; grandchildren, Jennifer (Mike) Bassham, Rebecca (Kevin) Thompson, Shay (Misty) Morgan, Brandi (Ney) Hidalgo, and Kevin (Elizabeth) Sias; great-grandchildren, Brandon Bassham, Lacie Bassham, Kathryn (Zach) Arnsby, Noah Thompson, Justin Morgan, Christian Morgan, Max Morgan, Kinley Morgan, Charli Morgan, Morgan Hidalgo, Jackson Hidalgo, Myah Hidalgo, Lucas Hidalgo, Jay Sias, Blu Sias, Emma Grace Sias, Archer Sias, and Logan “Little Ub” Sias; a great-great-granddaughter, Aurora Arnsby; two brothers, Donald (Jean) Morgan and Jerry Morgan; sisters-in-law, Lois Browning, Opal Jean (Otis) Denning, Sally Fulton, Uta Wolford, and Daisy Morgan; many nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Special thanks to the Cliffside girls, his care givers, and Dignity Hospice for all of their loving care. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Monday, June 26, 2023, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man and one hour prior to services at the Big Spring Missionary Baptist Church on Tuesday. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at the Big Spring Missionary Baptist Church at Mallory with Rev. Perry Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill. Pallbearers will be Shay Morgan, Kevin Sias, Brandon Bassham, Noah Thompson, Justin Morgan, and Christian Morgan. Honorary pallbearers will be Max Morgan, Michael Bassham, Kevin Thompson, Ney Hidalgo, and Zach Arnsby.
