Edward “Troy” Lawson
of Huntington, WV
Edward “Troy” Lawson, 78, of Huntington, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington, following complications from surgery.
He was born on March 16, 1945, at Fanco Hollow, the son of the late Emory and Margaret (Stevens) Lawson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Carla Bias; four brothers, Darrell, Roy, Ray, and Roger Lawson; and two sisters, Maxine Perry and Lorraine Alford.
Troy was a retired coal mining supervisor, who loved NASCAR, talking coal mining, and spending time with his cats and dog.
He is survived by his wife Nancy McCormick-Lawson; sons, Beau and Cyndi Lawson, Todd Lawson, Troy Lawson, and Drew Bias; eight granddaughters, Whitney and Walter Johnson, Adrienne and Bronson McNellis, Calista and Bobby Riley, Brittany Lively, Haley and Jacob Ellis, Baylee and Chase Thompson, Peyton Lawson and Maddie Lawson and her fiancé Jacob Castle; two grandsons, Chris and Misty Trent and Garren Lawson; 10 great-grandchildren and one on the way; Natalie, Barrett, Vesper, Lucas, Lennox, Brennen, Piper, Harper, Cash, and Riggs; one brother, Larry and Carol Lawson; and his McCormick brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank and Vickie McCormick, Betty Campbell, Charlene and Calvin Necessary, Linda Leonard and JR Soard, and Danita and Norman Noel; along with a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man. In honor of Troy's wishes his remains will be cremated after the Gathering.
