Larry Dean Harvey of Accoville, WV Larry Dean “Pops” Harvey, 78, of Accoville Flats Road, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 14th, 2023, leaving from his earthly residence, after a short illness. He was born on August 1st, 1944, at Man, the son of the late Guy and Millie Marie (McCormick) Harvey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Carolyn Sue (Ackison) Harvey; his parents-in-law, Roscoe and Clustina Ackison; three brothers, Rev. Norman Harvey, Marvin Harvey, and a baby brother, Verlin Lee Harvey; sister, Carolyn Harvey Lowe; two grandsons, Brian Allen Harvey and Brody Lee Harvey; and his faithful companions, his dogs, Maggie Mae and Molly. Larry was an avid sports fan. He loved the Cincinnati Reds baseball and Cleveland Brown’s Football teams. Marshall and WVU were his favorite college teams. When he was able, he watched the Man High Hillbillies practice football and attended the home games. His favorite past time in the fall was visiting all the deer camps. Larry loved to take rides in the woods and enjoy all the wonders of nature that every season offered. In his younger days he played baseball for the Accoville team where he earned the nickname “Tee Hee”. At one time he served as the Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer of his local UMWA. You could almost always find Pops on his back porch in his rocking chair either listening to a ballgame or the oldies but goodies music. Those left to cherish his memory are a son, Brian Lee Harvey and wife Robin of Bruno; a daughter, Kathryn Denise Harvey Merritt and husband Robert of Accoville; a special grand-daughter who he thought of as a daughter, Tiara Marie Frame Thompson and husband Kevin of Neibert; three grandsons, Zac Harvey and wife Kendyl of Bruno, RJ Merritt and girlfriend Hayleh Flemings, and Jacob Merritt, all of Accoville; a grand-daughter-in-law, Megan Harvey of Bruno; four great-grand-sons, Kolton Lee Thompson of Neibert, Asher Blake Harvey, Landon Reid Harvey, and Carter Todd Harvey, all of Bruno; a great-grand-daughter, Kennedy Reese Harvey of Bruno; brother and sister-in-law, J.D. and Barb Roberts of Accoville; a special cousin who was like a brother, Frank “Hot Rod” McCormick of Accoville; and a special care giver, Karen Blankenship Story; along with a host of nieces, nephews, McCormick cousins, and friends.
