Obituary of Ronnie Dexter Stephens

Ronnie Dexter “Dickie” Stephens of Davin, WV Ronnie Dexter “Dickie” Stephens, departed this life suddenly on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at his home in Davin, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 19, 1950, in Wayne, the son of the late Clayton and Estella (Belcher) Stephens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, David Stephens, Michael Stephens, Herbert “Peanut” Grimmette, and Tracy Grimmett; and one sister, Edith Cox. Dickie was a 1967 graduate of Man High School. He then served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a coal miner for 30 plus years and upon his retirement enjoyed spending time with his family and riding his Gold Wing Motorcycle. Those left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 54 years, Lydia Charlene “Bug” Stephens; his two daughters, Camie Hunt and her husband Oliver who Dickie considered a son and Denean Hill and her husband Chuck of Oceana; four grandchildren, Courtney (Steven) Adkins of Mallory, Tristan (Eric) Smith of Oceana, Trey (Taylor) Hunt of Davin and Charlie Hill of Oceana; three great-grandchildren, Kinlee Adkins, Gabbi Adkins, and Paisley Smith; three brothers, James Grimmette of Bruno, Donald (Sandy) Grimmette of Raeford, NC, and Larry (Carolyn) Grimmette of Gallipolis, OH; one sister who he dearly loved, Brenda (Charlie) Williamson of Bruno; and many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 13, 2023, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral at Man. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home with Rev. Lacy Cox, Jr. assisted by Sister Brenda Williamson officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Wyoming County Veterans Honor Guard. Following military honors, Dickie will be lovingly laid to rest in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby. Pallbearers will include Trey Hunt, Steven Adkins, Chuck Hill, Charlie Hill, Eric Smith, and Mickey Stephens Honorary Pallbearers are Oliver Hunt, Roy Brown, Bobby Johnson, Bobby Laws, Robert Payne, Buddy Conley, Rupert Smith, Jack Stowers Jr., and Roger Wooten Online condolences may be sent to www.krantzmcneelyfuneralhome.com Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man.
