Obituary of Clarence Eldon Vance

Clarence Eldon Vance, 82, of South Man, joined his family in their Heavenly home on Thursday, January 26, 2023, leaving from the home of his sister, Nora Brown, after a long illness. He was born on April 17, 1940, at Mallory, the son of Troy and Dorthy (Harless) Vance. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Anna Ruth Vance; his precious son, Kenneth Eldon Vance; his brother, Edward Ray Vance; and his sister, Norma Marie Vance. He was a 1958 graduate of Logan High School. After graduation, he entered the U.S. Marine Corp where he served his country for eight years. After receiving his Honorable Discharge, he returned to Man where he and his family settled. He was a marine through and through always honorable to the values the Marines had instilled in him. Clarence began his civilian career as a coal mine electrician at various coal mines. He was a member of Neibert Missionary Baptist at Neibert. Clarence enjoyed his dogs, keeping his guns in good order, and working on cars. He loved people and children and could strike up a conversation with anyone. Those left to cherish his memory are one sister, Nora Eunice Vance Brown of Stollings with whom he made his home; his friend and cousin, Frankie Combs of Man; nieces, Lura Jean Butcher formerly of South Point, OH currently living at Stollings and Tammy Vance Knogge of Hilton Head, SC; along with a host of other relatives and friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be begin at 12:00 Noon at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man with Rev. David Andrew Hatfield officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Wyoming County Veterans Honor Guard. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services.
