Obituary of Thomas F. Vance

Thomas F. Vance of Greenville, WV Thomas F. Vance, 90, of Greenville, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 21, 2023, from the home of his son Danny, after an extended illness. He was born on September 6, 1932, at Little Harts, Attenville, the son of the late Dewey and Sara (Adkins) Vance. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Charlotte (Dean) Vance, his second wife, Mary (Nida) Vance; two brothers, Bobby and Jackie Vance; one sister, Freda Brown; and two grandsons, Danny Lee Vance II and Teddy Joe Johnson. Thomas retired from Arch Coal with 39 years and 10 months. He served in the U.S. Army in the early 1950’s. A Christian for many years, Thomas was a member of the Hunt Freewill Baptist Tabernacle. He enjoyed visits with family and friends and his little dog Ozzy. Those left to cherish his memory are his five children, Danny and Sherry Vance of Amherstdale, Diana and Roy Vanderpool of Willard, OH, Sandy and Brandt Morgan of Winfield, Big Tommy Joe and Latira Vance of Accoville, and Lil Tommy Joe Vance of Lake Wylie, SC; one brother, James Vance of Poplar Bluff, MO; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren with one on the way. He also has two very special grandsons, Jamie “Buckshot” and Noah Vance whom he loved dearly along with a host of other relatives, church family, and friends. The family would like to thank Dignity Hospice, the nurses and caregivers, and the friends and neighbors. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at the Hunt Freewill Baptist Tabernacle at Greenville with Rev. Donald Ellis assisted by Brother Danny Browning officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the Hunt Freewill Baptist Tabernacle also. Pall bearers will be Brandt Morgan, Terry Brickles, Jason Brickles, Jamie Vance, Stevie Vance, and Michael Vance.
