Obituary of Kay Schoolcraft

Carolyn Kay Schoolcraft of Mallory, WV Carolyn Kay Schoolcraft, 64, of Mallory entered into her heavenly home on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at her residence, following a sudden illness. She was born on May 20, 1958, at Man, the daughter of the late Fred Edward and Christine (Belcher) Wingler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Brenda Sue Hicks; three infant siblings, Eddie Ray Wingler, Tommy Lee Wingler, and Betty Jo Wingler; two brothers-in-law, Gary McDaniels and James R. Hicks; her niece, April Schoolcraft; and two special friends, Avis Sparks and Brenda Bateman; and her father-in-law, Paul Lee Schoolcraft. Kay was a devoted Christian and a life long member of Gilman Bottom House of Prayer. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Kay never met a stranger and was a dedicated friend to all who knew her. She enjoyed spending time with her family, kids, and grandkids. She had a love for crafting, crocheting, sewing, and flowers. She enjoyed visits from friends and family and loved helping others. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 50 years, Paul Schoolcraft Jr.; daughter, Tammy (Brad) Bateman of Abingdon, VA; son, Paul (Shanda) Schoolcraft of Chapmanville; four sisters, Dana (Richard) Nelson of Mallory, Ginger (Dewey) Lusk of Robinette, Gail (Frenchie) Lusk of Accoville, and Delores (Gerald) Slone of Robinette; two brothers, Freddie (Frances) Wingler of Mallory and David (Tina) Wingler of Lundale; brother-in-law, Bob (Terri) Schoolcraft of Mallory; grand-daughters, Kaylee Rae Bateman of Abingdon, VA, Lyndsey Franklin of Gilbert, and Chloe and Alahna Deskins, both of Chapmanville, and two grand-daughters of Mallory; one grandson, Jacob (Bella) Schoolcraft of Mount Clare; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who she loved dearly including: Kristina, Rylee, and Isabelle who she loved like her own. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Randall and Rachel Tiller and kids, Bob and Terri Schoolcraft, Gloria and Fred Williams, Matt Hopkins at Family Healthcare, and Herb and staff at Towne Pharmacy. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2023, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home with Rev. Alan Brown and Rev. Donald Sparks officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
