George Tolbert Duncan, 95, of Combs Addition, was received into his heavenly home after 70 years of serving his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, October 24, 2022. He was the Chief Electrician at Amherst Coal Company. After returning from World War II George seen the prettiest girl he had ever seen sitting in a corner booth where as he stated, he “Cornered her up” and ask to walk her home. In 1950 George married that pretty girl who became the love of his life, Mary Mae Duncan. George loved the Lord and served him for over 70 years where he and Mary took up membership at the Kistler Freewill Baptist church. He served as a deacon for 68 years where he was a Sunday school teacher and became the President of the Deacon Board. He lived his life trying to show others the love that Jesus placed in his heart. George was born on August 6, 1927, the son of the late George Washington and Hilda Fosson Duncan. Those preceding him in death are: His loving wife Mary Mae Duncan, Kent Steele a nephew whom he raised as a son, one brother, John Edward Duncan, and two sisters Ruth Duncan Nunner and Helen Duncan Marcum. He is survived by; one sister-in-law, Sue (Roger) Adkins of Cleveland, OH; one niece who he raised as a daughter, Sabrina Steele Desilva and her daughter Johnna Miller; Justin and Tracy Spence whom he “adopted” over 20 years ago along with their children, Morgan, Ethan, and Mason; along with many nieces, nephews, friends, and church family. George was passionate about many things but never wanted to miss a revival or church service. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2022, at the Kistler Freewill Baptist Church at Kistler. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2022, at the Kistler Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Timothy Isom officiating assisted by Justin Spence. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby. Pall Bearers will be: Charles Duncan, Justin Spence, Ethan Spence, Mason Spence, Ty Cook, Blaine Rowe, Josh Williams, Roy Adkins, and Kyle Mazur. Honorary Pall Bearers will be: Fred Osborne, JD Roberts, Roland Cook,Lonnie Adkins, Greg Adkins, and Roger Adkins.
