Obituary of Donnie Gene Maynard

Donnie Gene Maynard of Lundale, WV Donnie Gene Maynard, 75, of Lundale, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, leaving from his earthly home, after a short illness. He was born on May 19, 1947, at Toney Fork, the son of the late Rev. Arnold and Louise Madge (Perry) Maynard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Paul Vanover, Raymond Bailey, Larry Carroll, Raymond Workman, and David “P-Nut” Perry; sister-in-law, Rhonda Maynard; one great-nephew, Jaxon Cole Cook; and two infant great-nephews. Donnie was a coal miner for 18 years years until he was disabled from an automobile accident. He was an Army Veteran who served in the Vietnam War. Donnie enjoyed his family, sitting on the porch drinking coffee, and visiting. He will long be remembered for his favorite comment “I do what I do” which many of his friends and family have adopted into their conversation. Donnie will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Those left to cherish his memory are six sisters, Norma Vanover of Lundale, Linda Carroll of Clayton, NC, Liz (Pete) Johnson of Stanley, NC, Elaine Bailey of Stanleytown, VA, Judy (Paul) Ellis of Glen Daniel, Lisa (Tom) Moore of Fairdale; two brothers, Rev. Eddie (Sandra) Maynard of Clarksville, TN and Paul (Jennifer) Maynard of Hanover; two children, Donnie Maynard Jr. and Sabrina Maestas; three grandchildren; three friends he visited often, Mark Toler and Sherry and Jeff Vance; and many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 23, 2022, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home with Rev. Roland Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Wyoming County Veterans Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Duane Vanover, Paul Ellis, Bobby Dale Adkins, Tom Moore, Mark Toler, and Paul Maynard. Honorary pallbearers will be Rev. Eddie Maynard, Jimmy Lesher, and Arthur Brunty.
