Lawrence "Paps" McGraw
Of Davin, WV
On March 17th, 2014, Lawrence "Paps" McGraw of Davin left this earth to go to his Heavenly home.
He was born March 25th, 1939, at Band Mill Hollow, a son of the late Alfred and Leatha McGraw. Also preceding him in death were 4 brothers, Willard, Hermon, Arthur, and Earl; and 3 sisters, Hazel, Gladys, and Opal.
Lawrence was a devout Christian, army veteran, and retired Union coal miner. Lawrence enjoyed everything outdoors: especially hunting, fishing, and digging ginseng. He also enjoyed piddling on his jeeps. His greatest joy was his love for his family and serving the Lord. Lawrence had a huge church family at Kistler and Greenbranch Freewill Baptist Churches. He never met a stranger and could spend hours talking to someone he just met.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Janis Inabnitt McGraw; sons Keith (Angela) Decker of Davin, Eric (Susie) Decker of Jane Lew, and Lawrence (Lisa) McGraw, II of Chapmanville; daughters, Mary (Ron) Jenkins of Huntington and Brenda McGraw of Sanford, NC; siblings, Dorothy Adams, Helen Deavers, and Billy McGraw, all of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Miranda and Leatha Mitchell of Huntington, David and Maverick Brown, and Justin Litton, all of Man, Tiffany, Emily and Olivia Decker of Jane Lew, Breanna Cox of Sanford, NC, and Lawrence McGraw III of Chapmanville; and great-grandson, Landon of Huntington.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2014, at the Greenbranch Freewill Baptist church at Man with Rev. Donald Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be held from 7-10 p.m. Thursday, at the Greenbranch Freewill Baptist Church and one hour prior to services at the church also.
