Obituary of Cindy Lea Powers

Cindy Lea Powers of Greenville, WV Cindy Lea Powers, 69, of Greenville, made her Heavenly journey on Monday, March 14, 2022, leaving from her, after an extended illness. She was born on September 30, 1952, the daughter of the late Lonnie and Nellie (Altizer) Bartram. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Grimmett; and her husband, Emerson Whitlock. Cindy received a degree from SWVCC and received her Masters Degree from Marshall University. She was the Financial Aid Director at SWVCC for 29 years before she retired. She was Christian and a member of the Greenville Freewill Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday school teacher and member of the Ladies Aide. Cindy loved the Lord and was willing to take on any job the Lord gave her or the church asked of her. When she was able she loved directing plays for the church. Devoted to her family, she loved spending time with them especially the grandbabies. She enjoyed spending time in the sun. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Don “Frankie” Powers; one son, Elmer “Moe” “June” Bailey, Jr. and his wife Paula of Hensley Heights; through the years she has been blessed with wonderful step-children and their families; three grandchildren, Kirkland Bailey of Man, Dakota Bailey of Wayne, and Macie Cline of Hensley Heights; two sisters, Linda Blankenship of Landville and Geneva “Ginny” Adkins of Logan; one brother, Lonnie Bartram, Jr. of NC; and many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives, church family, and friends. Visitation will be held at from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday, March 17, 2022, at the Greenville Freewill Baptist Church at Greenville, where a Going Home Service will begin a 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Baxter Toler and Rev. Alfred “Butch” Cobb officiating. In honor of Cindy’s wishes her remains will be cremated after the services. Pall bearers will be family and friends.
